(KDKA) After Larry “checked out” of his job as a grocery bagger at Giant Eagle, he headed over to Squirrel Hill to make pizza the old-fashioned way with Joe Aiello!

First, Larry had to make the dough from scratch. Pete said that his father wakes up at six everyday to mix all the dough by hand!

After he finished with the dough, Larry had to start making the pizza sauce, also by hand. Before the sauce was finished, Larry had to add the special blend of spices that makes the Aiellos sauce unique.

“We can’t show them the spices, that’s a family secret!” said Larry.

Next, Larry got the hang of flipping the dough for the pizza after a few sloppy early attempts. After piling on the provolone cheese, the pizza was ready for the oven, but Larry had to get right back to work on the next one.

Joe liked the job that Larry did so much that he asked him to stick around.

“I wish you would quit KDKA and come work with me!” said Joe. “I’ll make you my partner.”

Larry replied, “I think the sauce went to his head.”
